DC weighs in on how to shape a more equitable city!

DCWFO Talking Transitions

When new mayors are elected, they usually set their policy priorities away from the public behind closed doors. Not in DC! DC Working Families partnered with local organizations to push for a more equitable and just democracy through a program called Talking Transition. We wanted to let Washingtonians have their say on what policies Mayor Muriel Bowser should focus on in her upcoming term.

We surveyed thousands of Washingtonians on the streets and online to see what issues mattered the most to them. These efforts culminated in an innovative, high-tech town meeting of a demographically representative sample of four hundred Washington, DC residents. At the meeting, we talked about what policy issues should be the highest priorities for the new mayor. The results of the Town Meeting were shared with the Mayor.
