Since November, DC Working Families organizers and activists have turned out to call out the racist, misogynist, xenophobic and corrupt agenda of the Trump administration and their allies in Congress.
When Sen. Mitch McConnell’s disastrous health care bill was unveiled in June, we worked with allies across the area to mobilize a rapid response protest at DCA. More than 100 activists occupied one of the main terminals to make sure GOP Senators flying home for the weekend got the message loud and clear that the American public wouldn’t stand for this attack on their wellbeing.
When Donald Trump held a $35,000-a-plate fundraiser for his presidential re-election campaign at the Trump International hotel, we partnered with other allies to protest outside the event. More than 100 activists turned out to tell Donald Trump and the millionaires and billionaires that our democracy is not for sale.
We’ve held similar actions outside fundraisers in DC for Trump’s allies in Congress, including Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) and Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY). While we work to build a more equitable District through fighting for fair wages, affordable housing, and an inclusive democracy, we will also hold national Republicans accountable when they attack our rights.
