We are searching for leaders in our communities that are ready to affect change in our political system. Know anyone that would make a great leader? There are many ways that you can get involved in our process. In partnership with Wellstone Action we offer training for every level of leadership.
Maryland Working Families and Wellstone Action are teaming up to train an army of Scouts to find the next generation of of progressive leaders to serve in elected and appointed positions. Through this 4-hour workshop we’ll collectively decide what qualities we want in our next leaders, where we are likely to find them, and how do we convince them to step up and run for office.

JumpStart Candidate Training

Boot Camp for Candidates/Campaign Managers/Movement Makers
Wellstone Action’s signature “Camp Wellstone” offers an intense small-group experience with seasoned professionals and Wellstone trainers. Learn everything you need to run an effective campaign. This training is open to declared candidates as well as those looking to help elect progressive leaders.

Baltimore Boards and Commissions Leadership Institute
6 month training for Baltimore City residents with an expressed desire to play a role in making Boards and Commissions more equitable in the city. who can be powerful actors to enact and enforce policies that affect equitable development, education, criminal justice, and fair wages. As part of our training, community members will learn to be effective advocates, to understand power dynamics and conduct power mapping, to negotiate and collaborate with fellow Board and Commission members, to carry progressive principles and ideal of transparency, equity, and representing their community to their positions, and to ensure that their Board or Commission is as effective as possible.
