Eugene Votes “YES” on Paid Sick Days!

Eugene Votes Yes on Paid Sick Days!In case you have not heard the news, last night the Eugene City Council passed Oregon’s second Earned Sick Days ordinance.  Hooray!

This means that another 25,000 Oregon residents will have access to this basic right, and when added to the number of people now covered by the Portland policy, over half of Oregon’s previously uncovered working people will now accrue sick time for the first time ever.

Take a moment to sign and leave a comment on our online “thank you” to the Mayor and City Counselors who voted in favor of working families in Eugene!

Eugene’s measure is even stronger than the measure that passed in Portland.  The Eugene City Council rejected amendments to add a small employer carve-out for businesses with less than five employees. This means everyone will be covered.

Working Families played a big role from the beginning. Our field campaign knocked on thousands of doors, and Oregon Working Families supporters sent hundreds of letters to the Eugene City Council urging them to stand with working families in Eugene. This historic decision would not have been made without YOUR support.

Here’s the link again to send a big “thank you” to the Eugene City Council for making Oregon a great place to work and live.
