In just a few weeks, Oregon Working Families will be capping off the year at our Annual Gala. We have a lot to celebrate this year. Together, we moved the Pay It Forward Pilot into the 2015 Legislative session, reached over 10,000 party voter registrations, and helped make Earned Sick Days a reality in Eugene. Once the dust settles on the elections, we are anticipating celebrating a slew of Working Families nominees!
We are also proud to announce our 2014 Oregon Working Families Honorees. Each of this year’s honorees are champions for working Oregonians who have worked to increase access to public higher education, defend the rights of workers and expand our Democracy.
This year’s honorees are:
Oregon Secretary of State
Kate Brown has been a champion for universal voter registration, which we are hopeful to see pass in 2015, and a key ingredient in promoting Democracy for ALL Oregonians.
Attorney, Portland Law Collective
Cathy Highet is an activist labor attorney who works tirelessly to uphold the rights of working people and whose guidance has been an essential element of the success of Oregon Working Families.
HECC Pay It Forward Workgroup Chair
Rob Fullmer is a public university employee and SEIU Local 503 union member. Rob is a champion for access to affordable public higher education. As chair of the HECC Pay It Forward Workgroup, he was integral in creating the Pay It Forward proposal for the 2015 legislature.
