The election, which will be held on February 24th, will fill the Senate seat vacated by Senator Andres Ayala, who was appointed the commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles. Ed Gomes previously served the 23rd District in the State Senate, and recently announced he would seek his old seat.
Supporting Senator Gomes was an easy choice. He was an invaluable ally in the Senate, and has continued to be a political force to be reckoned with in Bridgeport. Senator Gomes has the support, name recognition, and political know-how to win this campaign. We know once he is elected, he’ll continue to be a champion for working and middle class families.
We’re supporting Senator Gomes because of his commitment to building an economy that works for everyone, not just the rich. In the Senate, he earned a reputation for fighting for corporate accountability, good jobs with fair wages, and good government policies. The endorsement means that he will be on the Working Families Party ballot line on February 24th.
