First NM Working Families Campaign Training a SUCCESS!

The Working Families Party has helped recruit and train hundreds of great progressive candidates across the country. Just last week in the NM primary, voters picked WFP-endorsed legislative candidate Susan Herrera over 25 year incumbent and industry backed Rep. Debbie Rodella.

We Have Proven that Progressive, Working Families Democrats Can Win.

We are looking train more great progressive candidates like Susan, and the staff they will need to win. That’s why we offered this training to continue this momentum and make our elected officials at all levels represent our working families values. We’ve proven here in New Mexico and across the country that no incumbent is invincible, no seat is unwinnable for a strong, well-prepared progressive campaign.

National Working Families staff and other campaign experts took us through one and a half days of workshops on how to manage progressive campaigns, including planning, fundraising, field organizing, and messaging.

Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller discussed his campaign experiences on the first night.

And on the second day we heard from other elected officials, Rep. Liz Thomson, Rep.-Elect Susan Herrera and Albuquerque City Councilor Ike Benton.

We believe that election campaign skills are essential for any progressive activist to have in their toolbox because advancing progressive policy begins with electing champions at the ballot box. Everyone left feeling better prepared for future campaigns! We look forward to the next one.
