Donald Trump has now been implicated by his former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, in a criminal conspiracy to violate election law.1
With more and more news about Trump and Republican corruption being revealed by the hour, it is INCOMPREHENSIBLE that the Senate would allow Trump to rush through the same hand-picked Supreme Court justice who could end up deciding his fate.
Yet so-called “moderate” Republicans like Susan Collins — and more than 20 Senate Democrats — STILL haven’t come out in full opposition to Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.2
We are calling on the Senate to postpone confirmation hearings and on every Senate Democrat to unite right now and reject Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.
This isn’t only about Trump hand-picking a Supreme Court justice who could decide his personal fate. If we don’t stop Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, then Roe v. Wade, voting rights, workers’ rights, LGBTQ rights, immigrant rights, and so much more will be in grave danger, and the Supreme Court will shift to the right for a generation.
The odds may look like they’re against us, but we can win this.
First, we need to ensure that every single Democratic senator holds the line. Then, we need to keep the pressure on vulnerable Republicans who have expressed concerns over Kavanaugh’s anti-choice, anti-worker, and anti-rule of law record.
We stopped Trump and the Republicans from repealing the Affordable Care Act. We can win this fight too. But Republicans have scheduled hearings for early September, and we all need to make our voices heard NOW.
