The Working Families Party endorses Mike Siegel, a strong champion for working families in the Texas 10th Congressional District, who is fighting for Medicare for All, a living wage, and a retirement with dignity.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Working Families Party, and join with them in fighting to protect our safety net and restore common decency to our government,” says Siegel.
Mike Siegel is a former public school teacher, union organizer, and civil rights lawyer. As Assistant City Attorney for the City of Austin, he has fought for working families by suing landlords who fail to provide decent living conditions, and by suing the State of Texas to fight housing segregation. In 2017, Mike was the lead City of Austin lawyer fighting Texas Senate Bill 4, a racist, anti-immigrant “show me your papers” law pushed by Texas Republicans. The fight against SB4, which was joined by Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and El Paso, helped set the stage for the dynamic, people-powered campaigns across Texas this electoral cycle.
