Closed Door Hearings on EDA Tax Incentive Program; Silenced Public’s Voice

When the state Comptroller’s audit in the Economic Development Authority was released, New Jerseyans learned that corporations wasted $11 BILLION in taxpayer dollars without any method of tracking accountability.

Legislators announced joint committee hearings to get to the bottom of this mess, but didn’t invite public testimony. Instead the committee room was flooded with voices from businesses and corporations who are only interested in wasting further taxpayer dollars in corporate tax breaks for the wealthy.

We can’t have the public’s voice be silenced.
