Today is a big day in DC politics. Ahead of a scheduled hearing around his ethics violations and after councilmembers took a preliminary vote to expel him in December, Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans has submitted his resignation, effective January 17th.
For too long, Evans abused his position to cozy up to business interests in the city, over the interests of his constituents. He was a champion for any policy that lined the pockets of the wealthy and well-connected and a well-worn roadblock for policies that made life harder for the city’s working families.
That’s why we are so proud to have endorsed Jordan Grossman in the Democratic Primary for Ward 2 Councilmember. Before the council even considered taking action against Jack Evans, he launched a progressive grassroots campaign to put power back in the hands of everyday people.
Join us as we celebrate this news and gear up to organize and elect a progressive champion in Ward 2 that will represent the interests of the many and not the few. DC Working Families, JUFJ Campaign Fund, and special guests and progressive DC Council candidates Janeese Lewis George (Ward 4) and Jordan Grossman (Ward 2) are hosting a happy hour celebration of ethics, fair elections, and democracy on Tuesday, January 21st at 6:30 PM at Red Bear Brewing.
