In response to the risk of COVID-19, voters in New York State are going to be allowed to vote using an absentee ballot on all elections held on or before June 23rd.
Step 1: Apply for an Absentee Ballot by June 16:
All voters can apply for an absentee ballot by mailing, emailing or faxing your application to your local board of elections where you are registered to vote.
If you’re voting absentee to avoid the risk of COVID-19, check temporary illness or physical disability in Section 1 of the application.
Step 2: Complete and Submit your Absentee Ballot by June 22
Many New Yorkers voting absentee will get two ballots. One to vote for the Democratic nominee for President and the second to vote for candidates in all other races. Make sure you fill out both ballots!
You want your vote to count! So make sure you:
- Read the instructions before filling out the ballots
- Sign and date the back of the envelope after you seal it
- Mail it to your local board of elections by June 22nd
