HARTFORD, Conn. – Connecticut Working Families Party (WFP) announced their endorsement of Representative Joe Courtney (CT2), Representative Rosa DeLauro (CT3), Representative Jahana Hayes (CT5), and Representative John Larson (CT1) for Congress.
“The WFP supports progressive candidates who will fight for bold and concrete proposals to improve the lives of working families in America,” said Carlos Moreno, Deputy Director of the CT Working Families Party. “These endorsements represent a recognition of the work of these four representatives in Congress to fight tirelessly on behalf of working families against rising inequality, structural racism and the cruelty and corruption of the Trump administration.”
Representative Courtney (CT2) has been a strong advocate for working families in the House of Representatives. During his time in Congress, he has consistently defended worker’s rights, workforce development, and economic development policies that bring jobs to Connecticut and the second congressional district.
Representative DeLauro (CT3) remains one of the most outspoken progressive champions in the House of Representatives. She has been a national leader on issues like food security, workers rights, and access to healthcare, and a constant advocate for working families in Connecticut and across the country.
Representative Hayes (CT5) has distinguished herself as a champion on education issues. During her first term in Congress, she has led several initiatives to reduce educational disparities, protect essential workers, and expand access to education. She is a powerful voice advocating for public schools and public teachers across the country.
Representative Larson (CT1) remains a committed champion for many progressive causes. He has been one of the leading voices in environmental protection in Congress, as well as workforce development, and infrastructure investment. He is a tireless advocate for the capital region, offering a bold vision to revitalize struggling cities and communities in our nation.
The Working Families Party endorsement comes with candidate training and strategic campaign support. WFP-endorsed candidates appear on the WFP line on the ballot in the general election. All candidates are carefully vetted to ensure that they reflect the views and values of Working Families’ members. Recent polling affirmed Working Families’ members vote for candidates who will fight hard for racial, environmental and economic justice, tax fairness, healthcare reform, strong public education system and immigration reform.
