Connecticut Working Families Party releases statement following Hamden primary results

Laurie Sweet

Hamden, Conn. – Statement by Carlos Moreno, State Director, Connecticut Working Families Party (WFP), following local primary results in Hamden, where Laurie Sweet, WFP-endorsed candidate, won the Democratic Party nomination for an At-large seat on Legislative Council.

“For years, the current administration has avoided confronting the urgent problems facing their city, its widening economic and racial disparities, and its persistent financial problems.

We want to congratulate Laurie Sweet for her victory tonight, following a campaign where she has spoken loud and clear about the need for better governance in Hamden, ensuring that the city budget supports the many, not the connected few.

Today´s election represented a sea change for the city, and we are proud to have been part of this push for change. We are looking forward to working with these leaders to move Hamden forward.”
