About

Ohio Working Families Party is a grassroots political party that recruits, trains, and elects progressive leaders to office. OHWFP has been doing work in Ohio since 2017.

In 2021, Ohio WFP endorsed several candidates throughout the state, four of whom went on to hold elected office. In Dayton, OHWFP helped Shenise Turner-Sloss defeat two establishment candidates who were endorsed and supported by the Montgomery County Democratic Party, making her the third Black woman to serve on the Dayton City Commission. OHWFP knocked doors with Tristan Rader for his successful first bid for Lakewood City Council in 2017 and again in 2021. Tristan has consistently been a champion of the party. OHWFP endorsed Kahlil Seren, a progressive City Councilperson, and he became The city of Cleveland Heights’ first Black mayor and their first mayor in over 100 years. Shayla Davis, Councilwoman in Garfield Heights at the time, sought WFP’s endorsement as a lone progressive voice. Shayla is now a member of the House of Representatives, serving District 11.
