WFP Party Building Week Guide

Overview

Every year, at the end of the year, we work to expand our dues-paying membership base to ensure that more people are involved in our organization and we have more flexibility to do more work in the coming year.

Read below for more information on how you can get involved, then visit ourwfp.org to get started!

How to Participate

If you haven’t signed up as a dues-paying member yet, you can do so for $10 a month, and we’ll send you the prize pack in early 2023. If you are already a dues-paying member, you can increase your dues by $10 or more to still get the prize pack.

If you would like to help recruit new dues-paying members and get credit for it (to get the cool WFP bomber jacket), you must first find your custom link. You can do that by:

  • Going to ourwfp.org
  • Entering the email or phone number you have used with WFP in the past
  • Entering the code that the site sends you
  • Finding your personalized link under Links To Share > Membership Signup

The link should be in this format: wfpus.org/member-AA000

Once you have your link, you can start sending that to people to get them to sign up, and you can track your progress on the ourwfp.org site. If you want some tips on the best ways to get new dues-paying members, here are some tips:

Post on Social Media

This is the easiest way to get your link out there and recruit dues-paying members, though it also has the lowest return rate. If you have a lot of friends who are not involved with WFP, however, it doesn’t hurt to put it out there. You can see some example posts below, though make sure to include your personal link.

Message Your Friends and Family

More time-consuming but generally more effective, individually messaging your friends and family is generally the best way to get people to sign up. You can do this over SMS, Facebook, Instagram, or anything you use to contact people. We have some sample scripts below, but feel free to customize them as you see fit and include your personal link.

Join a Party-Building Week Event

WFP will be hosting two events to help you get involved with bringing on new dues-paying members:

  • Tues. December 13: Party Building Text Party
  • Wed. December 14: Party Building Call Party

Both events will include instructions for reaching your own friends, family, and comrades to make end-of-year asks!

Facebook Post

For those who don’t know, I’ve been volunteering with the Working Families Party for the last several months. We’re trying to build a political home not controlled by the wealthy and the establishment, and at the end of year I’m hoping to get more people involved. Can you join me as a dues-paying member by donating $10 a month today? <your link>

Twitter Post

At @WorkingFamilies, we’ve been working to build a political home not controlled by the wealthy and the establishment. If you care about issues like the minimum wage, environmental justice, or police reform, you can join us by becoming a dues-paying member today! <your link>

Message Script 1

Hey <first name>! I’m reaching out to all my friends and family to ask if they will join me in becoming a dues-paying member of the Working Families Party during WFP’s Party Building Drive. It’s been a huge part of my work for the last year to get good legislation passed and start recruiting and supporting a diverse set of candidates who will challenge the status quo in 2023 and beyond. At the end of the year we’re asking more people to join on as dues-paying members both to have a say in that work and help support myself and the many others helping to make that a reality. Would you join WFP today with a contribution of $10/mo to support our work?

Message Script 2

Hey <first name>! I’m reaching out to all my friends and family to ask if they will join me in becoming a dues-paying member of the Working Families Party during WFP’s Party Building Drive. Working families are struggling to make ends meet. Meanwhile, corporate execs and politicians that live on first-class flights and think golf is a job, conspire to drive corporate greed that costs us our health and strips us of a strong economy and safe planet. State by state, race by race, we have to throw them out and elect our own. In 2023, I’ll be spending my time helping WFP send more Black, brown, working-class, and progressive champions to the House and Senate. You know my passion for this work, would you join WFP today with a contribution of $10/mo to support our work?

Message Script 3

Hey <first name>! My name is <your name> and I’m reaching out with the Working Families Party during WFP’s Party Building Drive. Since getting started in 2020, we’ve been challenging the status quo in our nation by supporting progressive, working-class champions running for office and fighting to pass important policies like a $15 minimum wage and police accountability. At the end of this year, we’re looking to get more people involved for 2022 and beyond. Would you join WFP today with a contribution of $10/mo to support our work?
