NYWFP on Verdict in “Especially Disgraceful” Rensselaer County Ballot Fraud Case
“Court turns a blind eye to systemic voter fraud,” said New York Working Families Party Co-Directors Ana Maria Archila and Jasmine Gripper.
NEW YORK, NY — Today, a court and jury acquitted all three Rensselaer County electoral officials accused of conspiring to commit ballot fraud in the 2021 election. The allegations against the electoral officials involved the submission of dozens of fraudulently completed absentee ballots, many of which falsely registered and voted on New York Working Families Party line to disrupt and discredit legitimate NY WFP candidates.
In response to the news, New York Working Families Party Co-Directors Ana Maria Archila and Jasmine Gripper released the following statement:
“This ruling is deeply disappointing as the courts turn a blind eye to systemic ballot fraud. The testimonies from dozens of employees describing blatant intimidation from their higher-ups expose a clear abuse of power that damages the integrity of our democratic system.
“In a time where anti-democratic sentiment runs high, there’s no job more important than defending the right to vote freely. If New Yorkers are unable to trust our civil servants and elections, everybody suffers.
“This verdict gives the green light to the further erosion of democracy in Rensselaer county. We advise voters to cast their ballot in person if possible or if voting absentee, place your completed ballot in a US mailbox to ensure your vote will be counted as you intend.”
