GA Working Families Party Remains Inspired by Unshakable Movement
Atlanta, GA — We remain firm in our belief and commitment to fighting for working families, our freedoms, and our futures. Our people still showed up in record numbers, in the face of extremist Republicans who use the weight of our institutions to repress our voices—from a politicized state board of elections to frivolous lawsuits filed by the Georgia GOP aimed at intimidating and demobilizing voters in Democratic strongholds.
The Georgia Working Families Party made an unprecedented impact this election cycle, mobilizing more resources and engaging more voters than ever before. This year, we knocked on over 325,000 doors, sent over 2 million texts, and ran our biggest ‘Block and Build’ campaign to counter Republican extremism and bring a brighter future to Georgia’s working families.
Our fight in Georgia is far from over. We’ve built a strong foundation, investing in a diverse, multiracial coalition that will continue to grow. Bold leaders like Sen. Nabilah Islam Parkes (SD-7), Sen. Nikki Merrit (SD-9), and Rep Ruwa Romman (HD-97) will be joined by incoming champions like Anissa Jones (HD-143), Bryce Berry (HD-56), and Gabriel Sanchez (HD-42).
Britney Whaley, Southeast Regional Director of the Working Families Party said the following:
“Tuesday night’s results remind us that change doesn’t come easy, but we’ve built something powerful here in Georgia. Our record-breaking campaign reached hundreds of thousands of voters and planted deep roots across the state.
“While we faced formidable challenges, we’ve proven there’s an unshakable movement here ready to keep fighting for justice, equity, and a government that prioritizes working people. We’re more determined than ever to push back against far-right extremism and demand a future where every family has a fair chance.
“This isn’t the end. We are undeterred, and we’ll keep fighting to hold those in power accountable, advocate for economic justice, and expand opportunity across every zip code. This is a movement for the long haul, and together, we’ll keep pushing forward for the Georgia our families deserve.”
