WFP-Backed Adelita Grijalva’s Cruises to Victory in AZ-7 Special Election

TUSCON, AZ—The Working Families Party celebrates Adelita Grijalva’s commanding victory in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District, which shrinks the Republican’s majority in the House.

The WFP has chalked up a number of high-profile victories in recent months, including Zohran Mamdani’s primary win in New York City.

“There’s real energy right now for a different kind of politics, one that puts working people first. Voters are tired of politicians who hide in the pockets of their billionaire donors,” said Maurice Mitchell, National Director of the Working Families Party. “We know that Adelita is going to be a tireless fighter for working families in her district.”

During the AZ-7 primary election, the Working Families Party was a significant force in the race, spending $221,000 on several ads for TV, digital, and sending thousands of texts to voters. Along with our union and grassroots partners, we knocked on more than 90,000 doors and sent two direct mail pieces to likely voters in the district.

Recently, the Party announced Congressional endorsements in three districts: Mai Vang in CA-7, Randy Villegas in CA-22, and Amie Baca-Oehlert in CO-8. It expects to announce more endorsements in the coming weeks.

The Working Families Party is regular people coming together to fight for a country that puts working people first. Founded twenty-seven years ago in New York, the WFP has expanded to over a dozen states and elected thousands of leaders at every level of government.
