NYWFP Candidates Win Running Exclusively on Working Families Party Line
Victories Across New York Demonstrate WFP’s Independent Political Power
NEW YORK, NY — Tonight, candidates running exclusively on the Working Families Party line secured victories in races across New York, a show of the party’s strength as an independent political force.
Tamika Stewart won her race for Newburgh City Council Ward 3 running only on the WFP line. Nicole Watts was elected to the Onondaga County Legislature District 9 as a WFP-only candidate.
“Tonight’s results prove that the Working Families Party is a powerful independent political force,” said Ana María Archila and Jasmine Gripper, Co-Directors of the New York Working Families Party. “Tamika Stewart and Nicole Watts stood up for working families when the two-party establishments stood against them. They ran exclusively on the Working Families Party ballot line and won.”
“These wins show that voters are ready to support candidates who fight for a future where working people can thrive—regardless of what party bosses say. We’re proud to have stood with these champions, and we look forward to the progress they’ll deliver for their communities.”
