NJWFP Endorses LaMonica McIver for Re-Election in NJ-10
NEW JERSEY — On Wednesday, the New Jersey Working Families Party endorsed LaMonica McIver for re-election to Congress in the 10th district.
“The NJ Working Families Party is proud to endorse Rep. LaMonica McIver for re-election in the 10th district,” said Sunni Vargas, Political Director for the New Jersey Working Families Party. “Since taking office, Rep. McIver has led on issues impacting working people and has fearlessly taken on Donald Trump. She has stood up for our neighbors at Delaney Hall against the administration’s drastic overreach, and we know that she’ll continue to fight for us during another term in Congress.”
“I’m so proud to stand with the champions at the Working Families Party as we take on the collective fight of building a better future for everyone in this country,” said Rep. McIver. “As Republicans seek to get even more for only the president and his wealthiest cronies, we know that our power comes from the people—that is exactly who I will keep working for alongside WFP every single day.”
The New Jersey Working Families Party has become a major player in state politics since the Party defeated the corrupt county line system. Just a few months ago, the NJWFP backed its former state director, Analilia Mejia, in the special election primary for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district in an upset victory, and last week Mejia won the general election. Last year, the NJWFP elected Jersey City Mayor James Solomon and a slate of ward candidates for city council. In addition, WFP backed working-class champions who won competitive state legislative primaries in Hudson and Passaic counties: Assemblymembers Katie Brennan and Ravi Bhalla in District 32 and Assemblymembers Al Abdelaziz and Kenyatta Stewart in District 35. The Party also endorsed and supported Baraka in his second-place finish in a historic Gubernatorial primary.
Nationwide, the Working Families Party has endorsed a slate of congressional candidates and incumbents, including firefighter and union leader Bob Brooks running in the Republican-held PA-07; Summer Lee in PA-12; Mai Vang, who is challenging 20-year-incumbent Doris Matsui in CA-7; Brad Lander in NY-10; and Randy Villegas who is running in the Republican held CA-22.
