Mo Brown Defeats 30 Year Incumbent, Bringing a Sea Change to Syracuse  

SYRACUSE, NY – The New York Working Families Party is a coalition of community organizations, labor unions and individual members, comprising over 257,000 New Yorkers. Jasmine Gripper, State Director of New York Working Families Party, released the following statement after Maurice ‘Mo’ Brown officially won the Democratic primary election for the 129th Assembly district:

“Maurice ‘Mo’ Brown, former NYWFP staffer and longtime public servant, is an unequivocal champion for working families. After enlisting in the U.S. Army to serve our country, he’s devoted the past decade to organizing for progressive causes and candidates across central New York. And since being elected to the County Legislature in 2023, he’s fought for in-state investments and affordable housing, and advocated for transportation reliability.

“This is a win for not just the New York Working Families Party, but for WFP-affiliate Citizen Action of New York, whose heavy investment over the last many months secured Mo’s victory.
