Working Families Party Candidates Sweep in DC Primary Elections
“A new political era for Washington DC”
Building governing power by the people for the people
WASHINGTON, DC—In response to the Party’s clean sweep in the DC primary, Delvone Michael, Senior Political Strategist for the Working Families Party, has issued the following statement:
“With decisive primary victories for insurgent Working Families Party candidates Oye Owolewa and Aparna Raj, the Party hails the dawning of a new political era for Washington, DC. Together with Janeese Lewis George as mayor and City Council incumbents Zachary Parker and Charles Allen, working families champions are building governing power and reorienting how the people’s business gets done in the District.
“WFP accomplished what we set out to do – together with our community and labor partners, we will elect a mayor and City Council in November who will work for the residents of the District, not the developers and well-connected.
“The Party also celebrates Robert White’s sweeping primary victory for US Congress and Attorney General Brian Schwalb’s reelection.”
