Wisconsin Working Families Party Sweeps; Celebrates Democratic Trifecta

WFP candidates beat Republicans to power chamber flips

Wisconsin Working Families State Director Corinne Rosen, made the following statement about endorsed candidates’ victories:

“The power of the voters overcame a deluge of corporate and PAC spending to elect working people’s champions up and down the ballot. Congratulations to incoming Governor David Crowley and incoming Secretary of State JoCasta Zamparripa, a longtime WFP champion. We’re so proud of the WFP candidates who unseated state legislative Republicans to flip both chambers, including incoming Senators Rep. Robyn Vining (SD5), Trevor Jung (SD21), and Jenna Jacobson (SD17) and new State Reps. Ben Gruber (AD51), Dan Bukiewicz (AD 21), Becky Nichols (AD53), and Ben Brist (AD61). The Party also did voter contact in CD 1 and CD 3, educating voters about the incumbent Congressmembers’ enthusiastic embrace of the Trump agenda. With partners, we staged more than 120 events bringing attention to Crowley’s opponent and his record.

“After 16 years, Democrats once again have a trifecta in Wisconsin but we know that some of the toughest work is to come. WFP champions in the legislature will push the incoming Democratic caucus to not only repeal Act 10 and other Republican measures that harm working families but also to adopt bold pro-working families policies, including fully funding public education, creating a public option through Badgercare, legalizing cannabis, restoring local revenue sharing, and other measures that benefit Wisconsinites. WI Working Families Party will continue our work of recruiting, training, and supporting working-class champions who deliver for our families.”
