California Squad: Aisha Wahab
Aisha Wahab for State Senate, SD-10
Aisha Wahab made national headlines as the first Afghan-American woman elected to public office in the United States. As a Hayward City Councilwoman, she fought to strengthen tenant protections and expand opportunities of homeownership for working families, and supported our small businesses.
Aisha lost her father to homicide and then her mother at an early age – she was placed in foster care and personally experienced economic instability. Her experience led her to commit her career to public service and fight for us.
If Aisha wins, she will be the only tenant representing Californians in the State Senate. And she will lead on affordable healthcare, a Green New Deal that lowers utility and housing costs for working families – and fight for a woman’s right to choose!
