WFP Statement on District Attorney Larry Krasner’s Primary Election Win

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Tonight, after Larry Krasner won re-election to a third term as Philadelphia District Attorney, Working Families Party City Councilmembers Kendra Brooks and Nic O’Rourke released the following joint statement:

“With this result, the voters of Philadelphia once again affirmed their commitment to transformative criminal justice reform. District Attorney Krasner has delivered results for the city by lowering the homicide rate, decreasing crime by rates exceeding the national average, and implementing a groundbreaking conviction integrity unit to exonerate innocent people.

“In the face of reactionary forces trying to reverse the progress he has made, a massive spending disparity, and Republican support for his opponent, Krasner still prevailed.

“We were proud to endorse and support him for re-election, and we look forward to working with him throughout his next term to end mass incarceration across the city of Philadelphia.”

Councilmembers Brooks and O’Rourke, and the Working Families Party, all endorsed Krasner for re-election earlier this year. The Party spent tens of thousands of dollars on canvassing and get-out-the-vote operations in support of his campaign.

The WFP has played a pivotal role in Philadelphia primary and general elections over the years. In 2024, the Party organized extensively across the state, especially in Philadelphia, for the Harris-Walz presidential ticket, knocking over 733,000 voters’ doors and making 4.2 million calls. In 2023, WFP became the minority party on the Philadelphia City Council by re-electing Councilmember Brooks and electing Councilmember O’Rourke, while helping earn Dan McCaffrey a seat on the state’s Supreme Court. In 2022, WFP built one of the largest direct voter contact programs in the state, focused on mobilizing voters in Philadelphia and communities of color to help flip a formerly Republican-held U.S. Senate seat.

The Working Families Party is building a movement of everyday people fighting for a nation that cares for all of us. It is organizing in more than a dozen states and has won electoral campaigns in every part of the country. It has emerged as a powerful force in Philadelphia, electing two WFP city councilmembers and many local and state allies, and has played a pivotal role in helping Summer Lee and Sara Innamorato win heavily contested primaries and general elections in Allegheny County.
