Coverage from NY1:
The New York Working Families Party has won executive races in Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo and, of course, in New York City with Zohran Mamdani’s primary win.
Now, they’re working to keep the winning streak going.
The New York State Working Families Party won big in executive races statewide including in Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo and New York City
Mamdani and other mayoral candidates took the stage at BRIC in Fort Greene, Brooklyn to share their message as the party looks ahead to the November general election
“Our strategy is making sure we build a big coalition, and we don’t leave behind any set of voters. And the beautiful thing about Zohran’s campaign is that he spoke to portions of the electorate that often feel left out,” Jasmine Gripper, the co-director of the New York State Working Families Party, said. “And that’s why we saw a surge of young voters come out to the polls.”
Mamdani took the stage at the New York Working Families’ Party statewide gathering to celebrate his primary win but also look ahead to November.
“When we win in November because that is our responsibility,” Mamdani said. ”The days of moral victory must come to an end. The days of patting ourselves for trying are over. We must enter the days of victory.”
