CTWFP Sweeps Municipal Primaries
Hartford, CT – Following the results of the municipal primary elections in New London, Hamden and Norwalk where all WFP-endorsed candidates won their Democratic primaries, CTWFP State Director Sarah Ganong said:
“Working Families Party candidates across the state are running to make sure their local governments put working people first – and in 2025 that’s no small task. There’s a real hunger for working-class leaders who aren’t making cold political calculations, but actually mean what they say. Who they are is important, because it’s how we know they’ll fight for agendas that actually improve people’s lives. They’re public school parents who are committed to protecting public schools; they’re public health workers who want their communities to be healthier, safer and more affordable; they’re long-term activists who have spent decades fighting to advance social, economic and racial justice. We were proud to support these leaders through their primaries, and we look forward to working with them to get over the finish line in November.”
CTWP-endorsed candidates ran and won in the following primaries:
- Jeff Hart and Shineika Farius for New London City Council
- Douglas Foley and Maurine Crouch for Hamden City Council
- Barbara Smyth for Norwalk Mayor
